TU Jazz Fest 2018: Next-Gen Jazz Musicians Spend Their Inheritance

TU Jazz 2018 Programme
The festival runs from Wednesday, September 4th through to Saturday September 8th 2018. The festival venue is Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5V7. The festival’s Opening Night concert will be held at The Frog: A Firkin Pub. Concerts will also be held at the Jazz Bistro, 251 Victoria St, Toronto, ON M5B 1T8 on Thursday (September 5th). Bands of the Year special concerts will be staged at The Frog: A Firkin Pub, 4854 Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5N2 on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 3rd and September 4th).

This 2018 edition of the festival will feature a total of 43 performances by 28 bands and over 150 musicians. The festival concerts at Mel Lastman Square will open with a performance on Friday (September 7th) at 8:00pm by the JUNO-Award-Winning Mike Downes and his trio. On Saturday (September 8th) at 8:00pm the Larnell Lewis Band will take the stage in the “Legendary Jazz Series”. There will also be a series of Jams and Busking concerts on Saturday from 11:00am to 6:40pm on the TU Jazz Festival “J” and “U” stages.

Meanwhile Yamaha Artist Special master-classes will be held at the Memorial Hall, 5110 Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5W4 between noon and 5:30pm on Saturday (September 8th) before the 2018 TU Jazz Festival winds down until next year.
